Working with Resources

The Resources tree provides a view of the project files based on the file type. This is useful for isolating application files, media files, and other content. You can easily edit the default resource types and add new ones.

Note To prevent slow execution of project link verification and extended search and replace operations caused by parsing large binary files such as exe, pdf, zip, and media file types, a list of excluded file extensions is installed in the Windows Registry LinkVerifyExcludeExts key.

Note To set the initial resources for a project:
  1. Open Options > Settings > Projects.
  2. Select the Include project resources option.
  3. Select individual resources in the Resource Name column.

Click the Edit button to change the filter (file extension) for the selected resource.

  4. Click OK to save the resources settings.

You can click the Add button in the Projects pane to add your own resources to the tree or you can follow the next procedure while working in the Projects tree.

Note To add a resource from the Projects tree:
  1. Right-click Resources in the project folder pane and select Add Resource.
  2. In the Add Resource Folder dialog box, enter a name for the resource in the Resource Name box.
  3. Enter the file extension(s) of resource types in the Resource Filter box, separating multiple extensions with semicolons.
  4. Click OK to save the folder in the Resources tree.

You can right-click a resource in the tree to edit or remove it.
